When Pastor Rick Warren’s team at Saddleback Publishing reached out to Christian Lingua, they had a monumental goal: to translate The Purpose Driven Life into 205 languages and to create an audiobook in each of those languages.
The task was massive. We assembled a dedicated team of 600 translators, editors, and theological reviewers, plus 205 voice talents to create the audiobooks. We had to ensure that every word stayed true to the original message. Beyond the translation, our team of 20 typesetters meticulously handled the InDesign layout for every language.
They successfully navigated the challenges of complex scripts like Urdu, Burmese, and Amharic, ensuring the final product was perfect in every tongue. Over the course of 12 months, nearly 825 people worked with three dedicated project managers to create one of the most daring projects in history. The Purpose Driven Life stands as the second most-translated book in history, trailing only the Bible.
